Morning Alpenglow

Morning Alpenglow

Sun rises through the pines -
glistening
the flicker in your eyes last night
vibrant and pink
and i remember you pink and yellow
as I sail through the morning
the way you lie between white sheets
fluffy hair, scruffy whiskers,
a day before, boardies hanging loose
around jutting angular bones
warm skin, insouciant waist
strong arms around mine
it is war, tragedy, hope, dreams, it is home
I wonder, hope;
tell me the sun will rise each day in our perpetual summer,
you will never age nor fade to me
I stare at you until it hurts
If I didnt love you I wouldn't be here,
forever and a day
