I knew..

I knew this man. He would take me out on Friday nights. Before your grandfather of course, One shoulder of his suits was always shiny. The left.

One day I asked him why.

Turns out he was a professional pallbearer.

Let's go shopping.

You look like a refugee.

Anything, I will do anything to escape the number 4.

Oh. Supersticous. I knew a gypsy once, she said she could cure this sort of thing.

She's dead of course. It was 1971. Anything we can do in the meanwhile? How about some tea? My carer will be here soon. She'll do our nails, we'll hit the road and shop. You like to shop? Most girls do. You however, are not like most girls.

Why do you say that Grandmama?

Because of the way you like your grapefruit with no sugar, you liked maths problems, you liked opera when you were small. But those nails! Oh those horrible nails. If you quit smoking we will buy some Chloe. Will you quit?

I will try Grandmama.

It is so unattractive.

Yes, yes it is.
